Who can volunteer?
Women who share our values and vision! We welcome applications from women of all parts of the community. We have volunteers who are former service users, students, retired, unemployed and employed.
We have a wide variety of volunteering opportunities which are rewarding and sometimes challenging. These include:
- Supporting refuge staff
- Outreach Drop-in support
- Supporting the Children and Young People's service
- Administrative support
- Events and fundraising
Some roles need volunteers to be available on a long term basis, others are less restrictive and can be one-off events. As a result we are able to fully support women and their families.
Some of our volunteers have said:
"I have learnt so much about myself through volunteering. I have become more compassionate towards others and definitely less judgmental of other people's lives."
"The training I received before I volunteered has been invaluable in helping me to get the job I was looking for. The support was second to none."
"Domestic violence is still so hidden. Volunteers give much needed support to the women and children and I feel as if I am doing something really worthwhile."
Our volunteer recruitment and training takes place every six months. All our volunteers are fully trained and will complete a criminal records bureau check before they start working with us.
